Sitting down with 2.5 year old DS now sounding sleeping about to start a movie with DH while we eat chocolate eclairs. Just waiting on DH finishing pottering around doing a bit of tidying and thinking what a lovely day we've had.

I'm 35 weeks pregnant so we just stayed home the three of us (Mil was invited but didn't want to travel to us, my family is back in the UK...I live in Europe). We had a really lovely calm day. DS understood to an extent Santa was coming but not enough that it affected his sleep so we got a decent sleep, up at 8am. Then spent two hours opening presents, with DS exclaiming loudly "Santa bring these presents for me!" He loved them all and has spent time playing with all of them, one or two a bit more of course.
We didn't end up cooking a big meal as DS didn't want to sit at the table at all today (so we decided to go with the flow and not force it!) and DH had some pain in his mouth so we just snacked all day and played. Spoke to my family via video chat. Had some TV time and let DS stay up much later than usual. We then got him ready for bed, read one of his new books and he was sleeping within 5 minutes after complaining he didn't want to go to bed 😅 was a nice calm day and lovely to spend some time the three of us before baby comes.

Come and tell me about your lovely days today!

3 is the perfect number in our house! We didn't wake up until 9 o'clock, OH cooked an amazing roast dinner, ds lounged in his new oversized fleece hoodie and slipper socks and built lego, we opened pressies, ate a lot of chocolate, played games, started a terrible puzzle with flimsy pieces and decided it needed to go to the charity shop, watched an episode of His Dark Materials and just had a lovely day. We have the same routine every year and it works perfectly for us.

We've had Christmas just the 4 of us and it has been heaven.

No rushing around thinking "oh so and so will be round at such a time" or "ooh we need to be at blah blah blah in a minute."

We all pitched in cooking what we wanted to eat, not having to think of anyone else.

The only downside is that DD2 has been sick this evening. She was complaining of a headache, had a little lie down but was sick after she woke up. She seems a lot better now though - snuggled up on the sofa watching a film.
