Will this be okay?

Bought two 2.3kg turkeys Wednesday evening - left to defrost in fridge and cooking now . My daughter who is a massive emetophobe is crying saying it will give us food poisoning because you should only leave it in the fridge after defrosted for a day. I think it would take a day and a half for them to have defrosted fully then they've been in the fridge for 36 hours- is she right or will they be okay?

I thought you were supposed to cook it as soon as it thawed so you should aim for the defrosting to have ended last night / today .

Nope that's absolutely right defrosting in the fridge and ensure they are fully thawed before cooking. I leave mine out at room temperature about 60-90 mins before I whack in the oven

Of course it's fine.

I thought it would be fine but she is a right panicker about food poisoning I told her she's far more likely to get sick from the Chinese we had last night and the extreme amount of Prosecco she's about to have
