Has anyone got a super king size ottoman bed?

Has anyone got a super king size ottoman bed? We are thinking of getting one with storage underneath the mattress but wondering if it will be too heavy to lift to open due to weight of mattress. It has gas operated spring at the side to aid lifting.

We've got this super king ottoman. It's a lovely bed. You do have to put a bit of effort into lifting it but I can do it by myself (5'2" with very little upper arm strength!)

Yes, it's 8 yrs old now. Definitely need hydraulic lifts and I chose the "hinge" to be at the head rather than side as I read at the time that if the lifts did eventually fail it would make the bed wonky if it was a side lift. There's tons of storage. It's essentially two single size boxes lashed together with simple neutral linen look upholstery. Very easy to assemble. Must admit we've not dusted under it since it was new but I do hoover inside about once a year. Bought direct from manufacturer as ebay seller for about £400 + £50 delivery. Bought mattress separately again directly from maker for £600. Still going strong.

We have a king sized ottoman. It opens from the side as it's easier to access everything for us that way.

PSA - when building it, remember the hydraulic struts are designed to power up the top and the mattress. When the mattress is not on it, it'll fly open unless you're holding on to it.... Smacked me in the face. Hurt like hell.

We uave one, and it takes 2 of us to lift it, but that may be in part due to the stupid tempur mattress that is heavy! The space is useful and I put my summer clothes in during winter and vice versa, the spare duvet etc.

Yes we have a super king ottoman from Dreams. Big heavy mattress on it but it lifts easily and closes easily. I can make it open and close but I can't move the mattress myself so the hydraulic parts clearly do a good job.

One of our best purchases as we don't have much storage in our house.

We have one from he same company: this one

We have a 32kg mattress and while it isn't easy to lift it isn't really hard.

Work2live · 26/12/2022 14:06

We have one and I can lift it fine on my own.

The place we bought it from fitted different hydraulics on it though as the mattress we chose for it was very heavy. Had it 3 years now and no issues, it gives us LOADS of extra storage. I love it.

Ours is a king, the salesperson advised is to go for one with 4 hydaulic lifters and it really is very easy to lift (ours lifts from the bottom). Our DCs were about 8 and 10 when we got it and they could lift it but weren't tall enough to get it back down at first. Watch out if you have cats, we have all sorts of coats and out of season clothes and other nice soft things in it and the cats jump in the minute you take your eye off it, I have been woken up by indignant miaowing before now.

Matleavemummy · 18/01/2023 19:51

Hi all, mind if I jump on..

we are thinking of getting one for the storage, but I read you have to get a certain mattress otherwise it’s uncomfortable! Do you find your comfort is compromised with ottoman beds? Were you advised to get a certain mattress? Thanks!

We have a super king size ottoman and it is one of the best things we have ever bought. Four hydraulic springs and it's easy to open and close by one person.

Can't remember what type of mattress we have but it was sold to us on the premise that if one of you moves about on one side it doesn't wobble the person on the other. Sleep has vastly improved.

I got one in lockdown, I love it! I store clothes and coats etc under it. My 5 year old can lift it now

Yep! It hides all of my Christmas presents
