Christmas Day disasters

So far...

Our hob has broken
Part of the living room ceiling has fallen in
The sink is leaking all over the kitchen floor
The toddler woke up about 84 times in the night so DP and I are shattered
The toddler also found the remaining half of the giant packet of smoked salmon left over from breakfast and demolished it. Saaaaaaalty.

And I'm pregnant so can only have half a glass of champagne to deal with the above.

But we're healthy and happy and laughing. What's Christmas Day without mishaps.

Merry Christmas everyone ❤️

Yikes that's a lot! Hope the rest of the day improves for you.

I have Covid.
Finished work on Friday, felt awful. Tested Saturday morning +ve.
Spent last night alternatively coughing and vomiting. Coughed so much my back and ribs hurt.
Feeling very sorry for myself today.

We were meant to be having Christmas dinner at my mums. She's offered to do meals on wheels but I don't think I'd be able to eat anything.

Sorry op. I've got a stinking cold so feeling sorry for myself. At my parents so not having to cook but only dad and the dog are fully well. Dsd lives with carers who failed to even mention she's had a nasty cold and didn't send meds so off to the emergency pharmacy (condition exacerbated by fever)

Well my Dad died this morning so I'm hoping that my day can only improve. Although unexpected he was 87. It was peaceful in his sleep which I think is all you can ask for. Putting on a smile for the kids.

Oh @EbbandTheWanderingHearts I’m so sorry. 💐

I had a small procedure last week and am in agony. I tossed and turned until 4 when I got up and took too much some medicinal cannabis. Have been absolutely off my tits all morning and feel rough as hell. The kids unexpectedly have been happy and wonderful.

So sorry to hear that @EbbandTheWanderingHearts . We're all strangers here but you have all my sympathy and best wishes ❤️

I"m so sorry @EbbandTheWanderingHearts .

On a very different note, my autistic teen snarled up a big chunk of his sister's curly hair in his new milk frother. Those curls are her pride and joy, and have taken years to grow. Cue teen shutting himself away and self harming, and DD distraught, bravely reassuring him and pretending not to care about her hair 😭

I have spent a lot of time with conditioner and a comb this morning. Proud to be bringing up two such caring teens, but it would be easier if they would just fight sometimes!

This may be a bad start to Christmas, but this will be the one you laugh over for many years to come.
Ask next door for help with cooking the or just roast everything,
Veg can be done in the the Microwave, your together, warm and your children won't care, HaopyChristmas.

Well an elderly relative is on a terminal care plan, DC had a fever yesterday so just us today. I pinched a nerve in my back today so just having snacks, not an actual dinner. Also discovered my Xmas cake is totally uncooked in the middle. Made three of the twats, had them in the oven for 4 hours, the skewers came out clean, and two of them are now with elderly relatives :(. Also due to ibuprofen not sure if I can/should risk a glass of prosecco

On the plus side, having a nice day, and cherishing my family, and have pigs in blankets in the airfryer.

GrunkleStan · 25/12/2022 15:49

Brought over my recently widowed mother for a week with us. Tested pos for covid yesterday. Rest of visitors cancelled. Thankfully this time, her symptoms are really mild.

EbbandTheWanderingHearts · 25/12/2022 17:53

Thank you for your kind words. 💐

YoSofi · 25/12/2022 17:59

I’m so sorry @EbbandTheWanderingHearts x

@ISawFreeShips you’ve raised incredible children, bless your DD.

Samsonsmum · 25/12/2022 18:02

Long time ago but my cousin, who we were spending Xmas with, and I managed to create a mini explosion and blow the oven door off. She just looked at it very calmly and said " well we have another oven". (left by previous boyfriend who was a chef)
