What do you have left to do?

Are you dashing around or lazing for the afternoon?

I've done all I can do for now. We have had dinner and cleaned up after it. I have the majority of presents wrapped and cant finsh the rest until DC are in bed.

I cant remember any christmas eve like this. I'm usually rushed off my feet.

We are all done here. Last presents wrapped this afternoon, so we have spent the last couple of hours doing absolutely nothing.

We have 1 adult DS and 1 teen DS, both of whom are in their rooms. 😊.

Listening to the 9 lessons and carols, on R4 while drinking mulled wine and painting my nails a suitably sparkly colour.

Theneverendingdrama · 24/12/2022 16:23

Sounds ideal @lorn195 . What do you plan to do for the evening? I'm finding it odd that I'm more or less finished and need a good movie to watch I think.

I glued on christmas nails yesterday and already lost one washing pots today 🙄 should have opted for a polish instead.

I've had a glass of wine but will have to wait until later to have more.

Making some scandi xmas food this evening. Baking a pineapple upside down cake for tmrw. Abit more tidying to do (ie shoving things in the loft) and changing the beds. Then get boys to bed, read christmas story, then the best bit. Dh and I wrapping the last christmas presents together, chatting, drinking baileys and watching something on tv. (Rooney vs Vardy). That is the best two hours of the whole of December. All nice and calm, just us two.

MummyInTheNecropolis · 24/12/2022 16:29

I’ve had a nice chilled day, teen DD has had friends round but they stay in her room so I’ve been on my own relaxing most of the day. I did do a bit of housework this morning then the last bit of wrapping. I’ll have a bath in a bit and then start cooking the buffet food before my mum arrives. Christmas Eve is so much easier and more relaxed now DD is older.

lorn195 · 24/12/2022 16:33

@Theneverendingdrama my BIL is coming around to ours and the eldest DS is cooking us all nachos (his favourite uni meal).

The rest of the evening will be spent drinking and chatting as we don't get to see him that often. It's an annual tradition that he spends the evening with us.

TabithaTittlemouse · 24/12/2022 16:36

Just got to move the kitchen table and hoover the kitchen.

dudsville · 24/12/2022 16:40

I'm hosting an overnight guest who arrives in just over an hour, but a lovely friend of my OH had just popped in. Been here for an hour. Unfortunately last year when he randomly popped in i invited him to stay for dinner as were weren't doing anything. I feel so terrible but i don't want him to stay so I'm currently hiding upstairs leaving OH to try to manage. So I'm not prepping dinner right now.

CoodleMoodle · 24/12/2022 16:51

Not much! DS has had a bath, DD in there now. Got to dry her hair, have my own bath/hair wash, make dinner (pasta bake so really easy) and do a bit of tidying. Change the tablecloth, put some washing away, that sort of thing.

However, I'm only just recovering from an awful cold and am still coughing a lot, so it's slow progress!

blackheartsgirl · 24/12/2022 16:55

All done.

apart from putting money in cards for the dc ( presents all wrapped etc)

I’ve spent the day at my mums, the dc have seen thier dad and now we’re all home. Dds 1 and 3 have done the housework and helped me prep the veg.

dd1 and I are crocheting in front of the tv watching Harry Potter and will start tucking into the baileys soon

I’m more with it than last Xmas,

glasshole · 24/12/2022 17:01

I've spent the day cooking Christmas dinners with my sister and delivering them locally for people that can't afford to eat or are alone and otherwise wouldn't bother. It was lovely to be busy and do something for others. Now I'm back sat at home . On the couch just zombying at the tv. I'm cooking for 12 tomorrow but everything is done prep wise It's the quietest Christmas Eve of my life tbh. I've only got one teen left at home and she is absolutely gutted to be here alone with no siblings so I've sent her out to see her friends. The other (grown up) kids will be over tomorrow but it's so weird. No big last minute rush. No house full of laughter and excitement. Next year I think we are going to have to start some new traditions to keep me and my DH feeling the festive love as I don't want us to grow apart or resentful.

margithid · 24/12/2022 17:01

All done. Which is also unusual for me and it's so nice. Watching a bit of telly with a mulled wine then getting a takeaway. Hosting tomorrow and all set. All presents wrapped ready to pull out when DD is finally asleep.

SinnerBoy · 24/12/2022 17:18

I wrapped the presents yesterday, they're hidden in the garage and I'll have to bring them in later. Rib of beef is out of the fridge, so it cooks right through. All the other food is more or less prepared.

After dinner, I'll peel and prepare the veg, to sit in pans of water for cooking tomorrow. DW went back to bed at about 1pm and is comatose. She's had a very hard day of lying about, doing nothing!

... To be fair, she did have night shift!

Natsku · 24/12/2022 17:21

All I have to do is drink wine and smile smugly because its all over for me now, we did Christmas today so now all I have to do is relax, enjoy a nice lie in and a day off from everything tomorrow Grin

BirmaBrite · 24/12/2022 17:31

Just all my wrapping !

Foxytail · 24/12/2022 17:32

Peeling potatoes

then chilling playing games and getitng a take away 😁😁😁

hels71 · 24/12/2022 17:58

Can't see the table in the dining room, or indeed much of the floor. So tomorrow DD and I will do our usual festive fast clear while muttering about DHs useless tidying skills. ( It's all his stuff..)

nobodysdaughter · 24/12/2022 17:58

I can't believe I'm all wrapped! But there's quite a bit of tidying veg prep still to do, just need to get my arse off this sofa. I just can't wait for my dd11 and partner to come home now though, hopefully there will be a few laughs this evening.
