Help with LPA

My dad keeps missing appointments and it's driving me spare. I have LOA for health and I'd like them to send the appointments to me, any idea how I go about that? Do I need to speak with his GP?

If he has capacity it's up to him - he needs to say that appointments should be sent to you.

The LPA only counts when he doesn't have capacity to make decisions about his health.

To get information about mums doctors appointments, I had to take a copy of the Health LPA to the receptionist so it could be added to her records. Luckily her GP was aware that mum had dementia so there was no question regarding her lack of capacity.

Hospital appointments were more difficult as each one had their own system for making appointments. However, as mum did not drive and I took her to all visits, it was fairly easy to get my mobile number added to the records to receive text reminders about appointments but letters were always posted to Mum. I had to try to intercept the post when I visited or have a search around the house for the letters.

Thank you. It's hard -sometimes he has capacity and sometimes not. He isn't capable of making and keeping appointments though. The latest one was for speech & language therapy which he really needs. But it's also physio and OT.

Thanks for that. I will make some calls to the various clinics.

The DWP assessor judged that he didn't have capacity to manage his attendance allowance so I'm doing that.
