How long to cook this ham?

Please help! DH said boil in coke 30 minutes then 2h in the oven, but it’s not done. Admittedly he was dosed up on flu meds, but I don’t want to jeopardise Xmas dinner and it doesn’t seem cooked….
its 5.2kg, and I’m tired. How much longer will it be?

What does it weigh and does it have a bone in? I've done my 2kg one for 90 minutes on simmer and will roast and glaze tomorrow for half an hour. It's cooked perfectly.

Sorry, missed the 5.2 kg! You need a lot longer!

I'd say it should cook for about 40-45 minutes per kilo, so at least 200 minutes altogether. You've got a bit longer to go, I'm afraid.

So… 2am bed at the earliest? it went in at 10pm after 30 minutes boiling.

For a 2kg ham I slow cooker it for at least 5 hours, then roast for 40 mins.

Howmanysleepsnow · 24/12/2022 01:14

Help me stay awake while it cooks please! 45 minutes or more to go….

I’m here cannot sleep and I’m rooting for your perfectly cooked ham

Howmanysleepsnow · 24/12/2022 01:30

Well,it’s cooked. Possibly slightly overcooked, but edible. Now I just need it to cool enough to go in the fridge… any guesses?

Sorry to bear bad news but at least an hour …. Drink wine whilst you wait

Howmanysleepsnow · 24/12/2022 01:47

This is exactly my plan!

I heartily approve … I’m sure your ham will be amazing

Dontfuckingsaycheese · 24/12/2022 02:23

Wrap it in foil a leave it outside. Maybe under something heavy. There again - your ham is pretty heavy!! Good luck to a fox trying to drag that away! It weighs the same as my dog! That’s bonkers!

Howmanysleepsnow · 24/12/2022 10:13

The ham made it into the fridge safely. Unlike last year’s, which was eaten by my (43kg) dog 🙈
