Best place to buy batteries

I need a few packs of AA and AAA batteries for gifts. Last year I got them from home bargains but they didn't last too well.

Can anyone recommend some good lasting, reasonably priced battery brands and where to buy them?

Thank you

Duracell - available everywhere. It is false economy to buy cheap batteries.

You get what you pay for I'm afraid. As a result we always pay the extra and get Duracell. But, that said, there are often deals on. Have just had a look at Amazon for you and they have some good deals on now.

Buy re-chargeable ones.

I've purchased Duracell before but found them disappointing. They may have been a cheaper version called simply Duracell or something like that.

I like energiser brand

Get a recharger, and buy varta batteries from screwfix, much cheaper than other brands of rechargeable, about £5 for a pack of 4.

Maybe not for gifts so I would buy duracell for those, but I have loads of varta st home and they recharge really well

I always bulk buy Amazon own brand and think they’re really good for the price.

Amazon own brand

OK. I'll revise my recommendation. I subscribe to Which? and have just had a look at their recommendations, so here they are:

AA Batteries
Energizer Ultimate Lithium Test score 96%
Aldi Active Energy Test score 79%
Varta Longlife Power Test score 77%
Duracell Plus Test score 75%

AAA Batterie
GP Lithium Test score 92%
Energizer Ultimate Test score 92%
Tesco Extra Long Life Test score 78%

Rechargeable batteries
Panasonic Eneloop Pro AA Test score 87%
Philips Ready To Use 1000mAh AAA Test score 80%
Varta Recharge Accu Power AAA 800 mAh Test score 78%

I shall take my own advice next time I buy batteries Grin

We get amazon rechargeable batteries. They last really well and don't take long to recharge.

Costco if you can get a card and have one nearby. Often on offer too.

Ah, didn't realise it was a zombie bumped by a spammer.

Thought it was odd someone asking about batteries to go with gifts, but would have made far more sense just before Christmas 2022.
