bid On a council property and I’m due to be offered it but it’s gone to a manager for a decision if I can be offered it due to previous repair work in another council property I had ( ex built conservatory that I had no say over abusive relationship) do you think the manager will offer me the property? I’m in the full statutory homeless band and owed main housing duty I’ve already told them I would set a payment plan up. Can anyone help me with this and has anyone been in similar situation and been offered the property Thankyou 🙏

hi.
So, im needing a little advice. I been offered a property, im position 2 shortlisted. However i genuinely dont want it. Had a look at it. Its awful.. really really dont want it. I only get this offer they said. But im praying to god it goes to number 1. What are the chances num 1 takes it. Also, if i switch of my ph so they cant contact me make a difference? Whats a good reason for not attending the viewing but in a way they dont downgrade my priority. So far im the highest but just a awfullllll property. I think il seriously od myself if i had to live there

Tumbleweed101 · 04/06/2023 08:47

Why is the property awful? If it’s decor/inside issues like kitchen they will likely clean up and put in new. If it’s location then obviously that is a different issue.

Testina · 04/06/2023 09:00

“think il seriously od myself if i had to live there”

Rent privately then.
Don’t be so ridiculous 🤨

Lollyfafa · 04/06/2023 12:57

You can ask for a suitability review. If you have any health conditions that might effect you taking the property put them forward. I did this and was offered another.

savanna06 · 23/06/2023 17:29

It was really really bad. Dog faecal matter all over the road, in one of those really run down areas. Had a peek into the window, it was completely a shocker. U can see elctrical wires everywhere, the living room and bedroom was extremely small like. One child bed long with a few inches for walking space. My gosh.. awful.. im sorry! Especially if i sound ungrateful. Thank heavens and the sweet lord i didnt get it. Im number 3 on a property and 8 on another. Is there any chance of getting the one in 3rd on? Or would it definately go to number 1?

savanna06 · 23/06/2023 17:32

1stly u dont know the circumstances, secondly u sound like a judgemental snob. Thirdly if u got nothing helpful to say, or u want to be a critical good for nothing, take it somewhere else. Thank goodness i dont know u in person. What a hostile ignorant person u must be to speak to a stranger u dont know like that

Hi I was kicked out from my mums 5 months ago and have been staying in temporary accommodation (a hotel) for the past 5 months my relief duty ended (band E) I’m now band D however under the homeless act now but main housing duty so I’m band d but I’m under the homeless act I’ve recently found out I’m 11 weeks pregnant. I don’t have a cooker or anything like that just a fridge and microwave and the hotel I’m staying in has bug infestation obviously the hotel is for temporary accommodation people through council so they are aware and don’t really care I thought I’d move up a band but I haven’t and I thought I’d get a flat by now also haven’t? Or a two bed now I’m aware I’m having a baby. I feel so shit all the time I’m always over twenty on the housing rank one come out today and for the first time I’m 11-20 but I doubt I’ll get it as my housing officer said I will most likely be housed from being nominated a house or flat not through home choice ? She’s also said recently I may be moving to a lodge for pregnant people and families but you can go there if you don’t have Children or you’re not pregnant. I’m just wondering if any one relates or has and can guide me how long it’ll be I am itching to settle down somewhere now I don’t have any family other then my babydad and that’s not going to well atm I feel so depressed just want my own place and have no clue when I will or how much longer it’ll be and band D is so low but I know I’m not 20 weeks or anything so don’t think I’d move up a band until then and even then don’t know advice please anyone:( x

adventadvent · 08/12/2023 05:40

@Depressedgirl

You won't go up In priority until you have the baby.

Depressedgirl · 08/12/2023 05:41

So I’ll have to raise my child in temporary accommodation?

Depressedgirl · 08/12/2023 05:42

I’m not allowed to stay out or have visitors either

raven0007 · 08/12/2023 05:48

I worked in one of these hotels for a few years. Families in the area I worked were usually there about a year, maybe just under but the larger families were there longer. Most started off in band D but after a certain amount of time go up to top priority.
A lot of them went into temporary accommodation like a hostel with shared cooking facilities and shared living rooms, they were the ones that moved faster, others got temporary flats.

Depressedgirl · 08/12/2023 06:12

Thanks for responding, Yeah I’ve been told I’m supposed to be moving to a hostel in the next few weeks but not sure 100% as I was told I haven’t got a room yet but one should be available in a few weeks? It’s just me on my own and obviously once I’ve given birth my baby but right now just me and I’d be happy with a one bed flat or house as I don’t mind sharing until later on in her or his age and would try change to two bed then but for mean time just happy to have a one bed. Do you think once moving to the hostel I’d get a flat quite fast? Or more priority to families there? Also what makes you go up in band?
