Am no contact with my parents and sibling. They live in another country so I don't miss them at Christmas as such. I miss having a family but not them if you know what I mean. I miss visiting extended family which I used to do in childhood. So my own family just have a quiet family Christmas.

I'm actually very family oriented but I come from a dysfunctional setup so had to step away.

@Hughsrunning sorry to hear that

I am nc with my family because they have gone no contact with me. It’s based on an untruth and is deeply unfair. Emotionally it’s very hard at times, but I know I’m better off without them.

Who can you have Christmas with? You kinda have to remake a new family with long term/ cherished friends.

There’s no point in looking backwards, people who have a decent family don’t know how lucky they are. But if you don’t, then there’s no point in hankering after it. It would just be deeply unpleasant again - dressed up in superficial social nicety.
