erm fill sink with warm water and washing powder or liquid. Rinse, wring out and dry.

Murasakispillowbook · 22/12/2022 20:42

I've got "delicates" is that it?

Chuck it in a delicate or wool wash with hand wash or wool washing liquid

Hand wash cycle on the washing machine!

Or that too lol

Ifeellikeateenageragain · 22/12/2022 20:43

If I need to get a lot dry or in the winter, I roll it up in a towel and squeeze out most of the water before hanging it to dry.

SixCharactersinSearchofanAuthor · 22/12/2022 20:45

My machine has got cycles for wool, silk, delicates and hand wash. I would use one of those, and if it didn't survive then it wasn't to be.

bloodyeverlastinghell · 22/12/2022 20:45

swish it round in soapy water. Swish it round in clean water. gently ring it out.Lay it out flat on a towel. Then roll the towel and I walk on it which makes the towel absorb the worst of it. Dry flat over the airer or on the bed in a pinch.

Dontfuckingsaycheese · 22/12/2022 20:45

What are you wanting to hand-wash? I find my hand-washing - all that wringing - takes more out of my stuff than a gentle machine wash!

RosesAndHellebores · 22/12/2022 20:46

Very gently in tepid water with lux flakes or stergene. At least three rinses. Gently hand wring then arrange neatly on a towel on either a circular line or across a heated airer with the heat off until just damp.

Only essential for pure silk or cashmere.

Or you can just send those items to the dry cleaners.

WeAreAllSpecksOnARock · 22/12/2022 20:46

My washing machine has a hand wash cycle, but when I had one that didn’t I just washed it on delicates or wool, never ruined anything.

StandUpForYourRights · 22/12/2022 20:47

I wash in warm water in the sink with detergent, rinse in clean cold water and spin in the washing machine.

Murasakispillowbook · 22/12/2022 20:52

It's a jumper dress that says hand-wash. 30% wool.

Towel rolling idea is great!

Stop buying items that require hand washing.
Use the hand wash cycle in the machine or as I have to do with one wool item.
Actually hand wash with wool wash liquid in a bowl or the sink. Then roll inna towel or 17 cos it's a fucking big hooded coatigan, then over the bannister for a day or two to finish drying.

BlackeyedSusan · 22/12/2022 21:08

Wool wash in the machine is even more delicate.

Snap!
I also wring the towel with the things in 😊

Hand wash cycle on the washing machine!

Yep this or the wool wash cycle. If it can't survive either of those then it doesn't belong in my wardrobe tbh

Singleandproud · 22/12/2022 21:46

The hand-wash setting on my machine is just a 30 degree was with very little spin, if you can manually select your setting and don't have a proper Handwash setting I'd go for the lowest temperature and lowest spin speed.

BamBamBilla · 22/12/2022 21:47

Leave it in to soak with warm water and some powder. Give it a swish if I wander past and leave it a bit more. Drain it off and quick rinse. Press dry with the rolled towel and hang try.

Jules912 · 22/12/2022 21:51

Hand wash setting on the machine! If it's something especially delicate like dressing up clothes I turn the spin off but most stuff is fine with whatever that cycle defaults to.
