Warm city holiday, near a beach. Suggestions?

Thinking I need a bloody good long holiday sometime in Jan/Feb.

Usually prefer cities solo but I also really need some sun. Anywhere you'd suggest? Ideally somewhere with lots of places to sunbathe too. So a nearby beach would be ideal.

I don't drive but tbf I could do with doing a fair bit of walking to shift the Christmas belly anyway lol

Also a vegetarian. And solo female traveler.

Other considerations: love to clothes shop, enjoy beautiful architecture.

Normally I'd think to go with the canary Islands weather wise this time of year. But I'm pretty open to suggestions worldwide.

Thanks x
Ps: get me out of here, it's freezing xD

If you are going in January or February, you'll be looking at long haul.

Dubai - it’s safe for lone female travellers, got amazing architecture and some of the biggest shopping malls in the world!

MerryChristmasToYou · 22/12/2022 19:47

It will only be about 24'

San Sebastián is lovely but in Jan/ feb not too much sun I guess.

Bernadinetta · 22/12/2022 19:47

Was going to say Alicante, but not Jan/Feb

JustCakeInDrag · 22/12/2022 20:20

Miami?

SweetyGreen · 22/12/2022 20:22

Yogyakarta or Siem Reap?

LubaLuca · 22/12/2022 20:25

Singapore

Miami?

Funnily enough I was just looking at Los Angeles. Think calefornia is quicker to get to than florida right? But maybe florida is warmer currently.

Dubai appeals for the shopping.

17 degrees and above is fine temp wise :)

Australia
Plenty of heat and beaches

Florida is on the east coast so about 9-10 hours of flying time. LA is on the west coast and the flight >11 hours

Miami is warmer than LA in January.

If I were going to California in January I’d go to Palm Springs. You could do LA too in the same trip.

Dubai. Marrakech. Vietnam

I went to Colombo, right on the coast, 30 degrees. My dp was there but working so I spent all day sightseeing alone, no issues at all - they have UBERTut! English widely spoken, really friendly. 5 star hotels are pretty reasonable for amazing service, but do eat elsewhere too, we liked the "family dining" places, nothing posh but mouth-wateringly good for very few pounds

AkoraEdelherb · 22/12/2022 20:40

How warm do you need it to be? Valencia / Alicante are 24-25º degrees right now, although it's usually a bit cooler this time of year. Guaranteed sunshine though all through winter (unless you're extremely unlucky). Is it sun or also very warm temps you're after?

Catslovepies · 22/12/2022 20:43

Miami is much quicker and cheaper to get to than California. I go every year in February to visit my dad and it's lovely - beach and pool weather but not too hot.

DesertSolitaire · 22/12/2022 20:46

Funchal, Madeira

I'm in Valencia at the moment....was 23ish today, saw a couple of people on the beach. Lovely city, lots to see, great food, rather good looking policemen with horses.....😁 Although a hated destination the UAE will be the right temperature. Fujairah has nice beaches, less developed than Dubai though.
