Don't want me friends toddler to visit

Just that really...my friends 3 year old is so naughty. Throws things, slams doors, hitting, tantrums when doesn't get his own way and my friends dont really discipline him!

They keep asking to come over, joking so they can trash our house as he's trashed there's, or he wants to play with our kids toys.

I find that so rude to just invite themselves, and just dread it.

I don't want to upset my friends, but what can I say?!

Don't invite them. I used to know people with similar 'free range' children. They just didn't get invited anywhere but the well behaved, considerate children did.

boboshmobo · 22/12/2022 19:39

Just say no, blame it on precious dh of necc but I have ember had unruly kids at my house ! Not a chance! Meet at soft play or a park!

OnlyFoolsnMothers · 22/12/2022 19:39

Meet up outside - just say you can’t handle the
mess of too many young kids

Go to the park, go on a walk, go on a scooter ride, make a treasure hunt. Often “naughty” kids are bored. Or make buns or go to a soft play….. some kids need more stimulation…..

maybe he has some kind of special needs and they are struggling with the child …..

or you go to their house and then you can leave when it suits you ….

or let the husband take care of the children and you go out with the mummy.

She will be finding it hard

I could have written this. My friend dc, refuses to share and they're infant age. Will snatch off my 2 yr old etc.
When she says oh 'ds wants to play with your dcs' i reply 'cool what day and time shall i come round'
Last time her dc purposely stamped on ds toy garage and snapped the ramp because ds was playing with it 1st.

Ive not allowed them here since.
I go to theirs or soft play.

FictionalCharacter · 22/12/2022 19:42

Don’t invite them, meet them in their own homes or in a park or soft play or something. You don’t have to put up with that in your own home. Your friends won’t really be “upset”, just a bit annoyed that they can’t use your house as a free playground.

JoJoReds · 22/12/2022 19:44

We have suggested the park but the weather's not looking great so she said 'oh we can come to yours!'

Will think of more excuses! Makes my anxiety sky high!

I have a friend with a child who is very naughty at mine. I see them at the park and softplay - anywhere but ours basically! Could you do the same?

Whatifthegrassisblue · 22/12/2022 19:48

I think say no thanks, I don't want my place to be trashed (seeing she's the one who brought it up), and ask if she wants to meet at the park instead

autienotnaughty · 22/12/2022 19:53

Just say sorry I'm not really up for visits, shall we meet at soft play?

She’s being very cheeky. Just say no, if you make excuses she’ll try this again and again. “You’re not coming to mine Emma, we could come to yours or go to the park (never mind the weather), or soft play.”

Shinyandnew1 · 22/12/2022 19:58

If they’ve bought up how he’s trashed their house, then say no way!

Butterfly44 · 22/12/2022 20:04

Meet somewhere else - indoor play area where they can play and you can sit and have coffee.

Wonnle · 22/12/2022 20:05

No need for any excuses , just say no i don't want your child in my house thank you very much .

Suzi888 · 22/12/2022 20:06

Soft play.
I wouldn’t have this. Accidents happen, but when it’s uncontrollable/non stop tantrums it’ll be awful. Toys and ornaments will be broken. Food and drink will be spilt.
All rooms will be trashed.

Hopeyoursproutsarealreadyon · 22/12/2022 20:08

Whichever day she tries to invite herself just say sorry you did a deep clean yesterday and was wanting it to last!

ShandaLear · 22/12/2022 20:10

Jeez no, Barney is a free range kid - walls cannot contain him. He’s a force of nature. Remember the last time he came over and nearly destroyed the house. Shall we go to soft play or the park instead where he can fling himself around without wrecking the place?

Hopeyoursproutsarealreadyon · 22/12/2022 20:12

Me and my friend had 4 x dc each. Coincidently 3 ds's and a dd each of very similar ages . Hit it off straight away! Her dc were not allowed toys downstairs at all.
Happy to trash my lounge tho! So we agreed her house or soft play was better! We shared meal costs if we stayed for lunch or went anywhere!
Neither of us drove then and anywhere was quite an outing by bus with 2 double buggies!

emptythelitterbox · 22/12/2022 20:13

Just be honest with her and tell her why.

momonpurpose · 22/12/2022 20:28

Don't let anyone make you feel bad about this. This is the price she pays for not parenting her child. I have a relative just like this. Even her own father banned the boy.
