Received covid tests in mail I didn't order

Received today in the post a set of 7 surescreen covid tests. Addressed to me. Says on box sent from nhs test and trace. I have not ordered these, nor was I enrolled in the test and trace app in the last few years.

Does anyone know why I would've been sent these?

Are you CEV? Tests are sent out to CEV to ensure they can get anti virals asap if they get COVID.

Any forthcoming medical appointments / planned surgery?

I have an autoimmune disease involving my thyroid but I am not extremely vulnerable. I did get an email a week or so ago saying I'd be eligible for anti virals if I get covid. I wasn't sure if the email was real or not! Perhaps it was and they are related to that.

My child is on a surgery wait list but we've not had an appointment through for that yet.

There’s your answer then. The test serial numbers are logged so that if you register a positive result using one of them , you will be contacted by the team who organise anti virals. The email will be genuine, I’d dig it out and give it a re-read so you know what to do.
