What are you up to today?

I saw a paramedic today at the GP surgery about my asthma flare up. My husband is now off for a week so will entertain the children this afternoon. We start wrapping gifts tonight after they get to sleep. I'm just circling the programmes that I want to watch (and probably won't) in the Xmas TV guide.

Is your asthma OK?

I’m just wrestling my teething twins for naps. They’re so grouchy today that I’ve achieved sweet FA.

I just really need to wrap! I’ve done none! Hopefully the kids go to bed OK so DH can do it tonight.

And the new season of Emily in Paris came out yesterday and I really want to just watch at least the first episode before husband is home for a week and groans and moans about me watching trash on TV! (Probably don’t blame him with this one.)

Hope you're ok OP and can manage to relax. Good job DH is around to take some of the pressure off you. I need to do the TV guide thing as well!

Except for the extension (which the cats are occupying!), house has been cleaned, hoovered and is reasonably tidy (will have a quick 20min flick around Xmas Eve). Going to have a shower soon and then I'm going out around 5.30pm to meet five friends - could be out just two hours or five! DH and DD are also doing their own thing.

DH finishes work later for eight days. Just need to do an xmas shop, the above quick clean, cemetery with DM and wrap DD's present - remarkably organised this year!

I've wasted the entire morning doing ICT training for an agency shift I'm doing on Boxing Day. All completely irrelevant to nurses, in general. Struggling to do it on my iPad so kept failing the assessment as the cursor not working. Rand the agency, told them I've lost the will to live and won't be able to pass it. Hoping they'd cancel the shift so I could rebook somewhere else. But they were ok about it. Now recovering with a coffee in Neros

Watching bits of greys anatomy in between entertaining the kids. Need to tidy really but feel like it’s pointless because the kids will just mess it up. Keeping looking at Amazon prime wondering if I need to buy more presents/ toys

CrackersCheeseAndWinePlease · 22/12/2022 14:37

DH was due to drive to his mums to collect her for Xmas (70 miles away) his car broke down this morning so I ended up driving.
Not long home and I'm planning a chilled day with dd7

MushMonster · 22/12/2022 14:43

I hope your asthma is under conteol OP.
In the train, getting back home from work. I will not be back till 11th January! I cannot believe it.
I will have some coffee, start cleaning and sorting laundry. I want the house presentable for Christmas Eve.

MyBooksAndMyCats · 22/12/2022 14:45

Just went to DCS Christmas concert, they've finished school now.
Just relaxing this afternoon and finish wrapping once dc are in bed.

Isseywith3witchycats · 22/12/2022 14:49

Sunshineandflipflops · 22/12/2022 14:51

Working

MrsDanversGlidesAgain · 22/12/2022 14:51

Finished shopping but for bread 'n booze, will collect meat order later. Currently feet up with the radio on and having a crafty sherry. Cheers to all. 🎄

Elsiebear90 · 22/12/2022 14:55

Nothing, I’m supposed to be at work, but off sick with this virus going round. I’ve just sat on the sofa drinking lemsip feeling sorry for myself. Luckily most stuff is sorted for Xmas, hoping I will feel better tomorrow to go shopping with my wife for the last few things and wrap presents.

Cleanthatup · 22/12/2022 15:01

i went and did the big shop for Christmas. I’ve probably forgotten something but Tesco was absolutely rammed and I had to weave in and out so much I couldn’t reach some of the shelves.

now I will sit down for an hour with a cuppa and scroll mumsnet.

The kids are at Nannys for a sleepover so me and DH can wrap the presents. Then we will prob settle down and watch Top Gun with a few drinks tonight.

@Derbybound2022 i can believe you still circle what you want to watch on TV, that’s made me so nostalgic. I used to love doing that when I was a kid!

Peridot1 · 22/12/2022 15:01

This morning I walked the dog and then went shopping for some final bits as presents and a couple of things I wanted.

this afternoon I’m going to make the stuffing and marzipan the cake.

I have the cold that’s going around but DH has it worse. Obviously.

Peridot1 · 22/12/2022 15:02

And I bought the Xmas TV to circle what I want to watch too!

MrsDanversGlidesAgain · 22/12/2022 15:13

Highlighting the programmes I want to watch is a revered Christmas tradition in this house. As is probably not watching them.

Sparklefoof · 22/12/2022 15:22

Walked the dog and did some cleaning this morning. After feeling rough since Sunday, occurred to me to test and and discovered I have covid, so that's nice. Going to go and make the gravy for Christmas Dinner shortly (veggie so no need for meat juices) and hopefully stay awake long enough to watch a film later.

nancydroo · 22/12/2022 15:24

Watching Ghostbusters under a duvet to save on heating. The kids have tagged alone to watch too. DH making me a coffee. Lazy day. Work tomorrow 😞

PollyEsther · 22/12/2022 15:32

I was up and out really early this morning as Ddog had a groomer's appointment. She now smells amazing and is beautiful for Christmas. I popped into town to collect some parcels and get the last couple of little things we needed for stockings, and that Sainsbury's weren't able to deliver, whilst she was being done. Have since come home and received said Sainsbury's shop and put it away. DH had done the fridge clear out and cleaned out the kitchen drain under the sink as it was blocked Envy (not envy).

We are now puppy-sitting for our friends for a couple of hours, so DH is hoovering around and I am faffing on Mumsnet studying.

This evening we are taking DC (and Ddog) out for our annual drive around looking at all the best Christmas lights with hot chocolate and snacks. It's one of my favourite things to do this time of year so I'm really excited! Then, once the DC are in bed, DH and I will be having a huge wrapping session - I haven't wrapped a single thing yet! Would quite like to get the bulk of it done tonight if we can. Shall probably watch something festive... like Harry and Meghan! Xmas Grin

Derbybound2022 · 22/12/2022 18:25

Busy busy! All sounds fun apart from those others who are ill too - here are some Flowers.

We have also realized some of our Xmas food shop needs to be eaten before Xmas day so are having to tuck in early - the hardship! Profiterole anyone?
