Going into work ill

I work in hospitality/retail. I've woken up today feeling like shit. Headache, nausea, chills, hurts to make physical contact with anything, sore throat, cough, etc. Obviously a virus. Management seem to think if you can't arrange cover for yourself, you should just go in. I think it's nuts. Anyone else in shitty low paid jobs have the same experience?

I’m not in a low paid job but I still always have to go in ill. Nanny, no sick pay provision at all, and if I can’t work, my boss can’t work, yada yada. Comes with the territory! I’ve had about 3 sick days in four years and have gone into work feeling absolutely shocking at times.

Yup.

Support worker. You can only go off sick if you have a doctor’s note.

It's such bollocks! If I had covid, even if I was feeling well, they'd tell me to stay home. I've only had aches like this when I've had flu (thankfully, very rarely) which I'm pretty sure nobody wants to catch.
