Can I microwave cheddar?

I quite fancy a toastie for lunch but getting the toastie maker out and cleaning it afterwards is a faff.

What will happen if I microwave some cheddar to spread on toast?

It'll go all melts and lovely. Do it.

Sorry 'melty'

We do ours in a non stick frying pan. Easier to clean than a toastie maker but cooks in the same way.

I mean stick the toastie in the pan, bread buttered side down, not just cheese. Better tasting that melted cheese on toast.

Make it in a frying pan. Much nicer

MaggieFS · 22/12/2022 13:39

Ha. I'll save the frying pan for another day. Even cleaning one of those is beyond what I can be bothered to do today!

Microwave here we come...

Depends on the cheddar, I've learned the hard way!* With some, loads of oil comes out and it's a bit gross, mostly mature that does this.

*I may have a habit of microwaving cheese on its own and eating it with a spoon with loads of hot sauce...

Back to report lunch was a roaring success and any hope of a New Year's diet is ruined. Thanks Confused

How have I got to middle age and didn't know this was possible!
