Protecting corners of a new glass hob

How do you recommend protecting the corners of our shiny new hob? Seen way too many smashed corners.

Mine smashed when a glass chopping board slid into it (the little rubber feet had come off). So I chucked the board

Our induction hob is fitted into the worktop and has a chrome edging strip fitted all the way round. It's been in place and used every day for the last 17 years!
