Positive NHS story

Today of all days my elderly mother was taken ill with a recurring condition that she's run out of medication for. I called 111 three hours ago, my call was answered almost immediately, she was triaged for a call back from a nurse within two hours but the person I was speaking to could hear how ill she was and escalated it so I got to speak to a nurse straight away.

The nurse arranged for a doctor to call back, that did take two hours but she's prescribed a small supply of meds that can be picked up from the hospital immediately and sent a prescription to the pharmacy for more for collection tomorrow.

Everyone involved was so helpful and professional.

This is great news. I have to say I had a run in with 111 recently and they completely changed my view. I used to not understand the point of it but they were super helpful and proactive. Much better than previous experiences.
