I took my daughter for her first covid vaccine today. She recently turned 12 and I had been waiting until now to get her vaccinated as I feel she is better off with the adult dose rather than the child dose as she is biologically closer to an adult than a child (5'4", about 9.5-10 stone, has been having regular periods for over a year, etc). However, when the vaccinator looked at her records, the system would only allow her to give the child dose as that is what is recorded that she has been invited for - she was obviously originally invited as an under 12, but the system can't seem to cope with the fact that she is now entitled to a different dose. We declined the vaccine as I really don't see how a dose which is designed for a child as young as 5 will have any effect on someone who is physiologically a woman.
Does anyone know how I get this changed so she can have the adult dose? Do I need to speak to the GP or the covid helpline (does it even still exist??)
