If you're having a buffet, what's on your table?

Having some friends round between Christmas and New Year and want to do a buffet rather than a sit down meal. We don't have an awful lot of room and I want to keep things relatively simple. Any ideas would be much appreciated.

I tend to go less is more. Keepnit simple woth few.individual items, but plenty of it.

Cheese board and crusty bread, grapes, celery, apples.

Pate (possibly fish)

Pork pies or sausage rolls

Crudités and hummus (or some other dip). Maybe olives

Crisps

A creamy desert like trifle and some sort of cake or maybe mince pies.

Fruit bowl

I go all out for buffets.

I love a good charcuterie board. 5 -6 various cheeses, Silverskins, cornichons, grapes, sliced apple, chutney, assorted crackers and a good mix of salami, chorizo, mortadella. A pot of spiced chipotle honey for drizzling.

A good home made coleslaw. Nothing fancy just cabbage, carrots and onions with mayo and a bit of mustard and a squeeze of lemon.

Honey roast gammon. Goes perfectly with the coleslaw and spinach leaves and mini tomatoes on sticks.

A good quality sausage roll. I make my own , especially at Chrismad. . One with a sausage meat stuffing mix and one with sausage meat flavoured with Clementine and cranberry sauce.

Chicken satay on sticks. Duck spring rolls and lamb samosas. I buy these ready made from Costco.

Mini lamb kofta kebabs in a mini wrap/pocket. Tons of tzaziki.

Falafel mix.

Profiteroles drizzled in chocolate sauce.
A central focal point pudding . Costco carrot cake or maybe a fancy baked cheese cake.

Yum!

I tend to make a Hogwarts feast look like a Scrooge's breakfast. Under catering was practically a criminal offence when I was growing up so it's stuck with me. Usually:

Sandwiches with various fillings

Pork pies & sausage rolls

Quiches

Meats & cheeses

Mini sausages in honey mustard dressing

Chicken satay sticks, goujons, wings, legs

Pizzas

Pickles, chutneys etc

Crisps & dips

Salads, rices & pasta salads, coleslaw

Cakes

Mixed berries

I did this recently and went all out with a wide range of middle eastern foods and many lovely things. The thing that everyone went mad for was the big pile of normal sausage rolls. I have learned my lesson.

Great ideas, thank you.

DH & DS are going to a get-together at their games group tomorrow. My sausage rolls have been requested. ☺️

Our Christmas Day tea buffet for 10 will be a cheese board with 8 different kinds, lots of different crackers, grapes, apples, pate, humous x crudités, samosas, onion bhajis, spring rolls, tiger bread, crisps, nuts, pickles x chutntey. Mince pies, fruit pies x cream. Christmas cake. Our biggest fear after Christmas Dinner is that we won't have room for tea!

I love quiche, devilled eggs
and cold cheesy oatcakes if you’re anywhere near Staffordshire
