Is this exceptionally talented for a 9YO?

DD has been saying she wants to be an artist for quite a while. I'm not naturally artistic myself so can't really teach her myself nor do I really know what makes good art. Everything she does has been self taught. Is this talented for a 9YO? How could I encourage her?

Excellent!

Is there a local Art School, often they run classes for under 16. Well well worth immersing her by visiting galleries, look at artist studios on line, Instagram etc. She is talented.

Iwritethissittinginthekitchensink · 21/12/2022 17:02

wow brilliant! It’s WAY better than my 9yr old could do but he’s never been the arty/crafty type!

Could you get her into a local art class to start tapping into some more knowledge/experience from a teacher and local networks?

Yes, superb picture

Anotherdayanotherdollar · 21/12/2022 17:05

That's fantastic. Well done to her!

Username6194 · 21/12/2022 17:05

What a fantastic talent.

Beamur · 21/12/2022 17:07

That's nice.
I'd look for kids art clubs where she can learn and have some fun with art.

FestiveAF · 21/12/2022 17:07

My 9 year old is at stick man level so I would say that is wonderful!

ErrolTheDragon · 21/12/2022 17:07

Yes...I'm no artist but it seems to be not only a 'good drawing' but also has an emotional impact I'd definitely not expect from a child.

WorriedMillie · 21/12/2022 17:08

That’s amazing!

ofwarren · 21/12/2022 17:09

Its brilliant

Moonlaserbearwolf · 21/12/2022 17:10

That’s brilliant. Definitely see if you can find her a local art club.
Do you have a specialist art shop near you? You can ask for advice in there.
My daughter regularly goes on YouTube for art tutorials. She’s learned loads from free online tutorials. I bought her a huge box (looks a bit like a tool box) where she keeps her pencils, pens and sketchbooks.
Lots of fun art competitions she could enter if she fancies a challenge - look on social media pages of art galleries etc.

Thereisnolight · 21/12/2022 17:10

Yes! Wow!

GlendaSugarbeanIsJudgingYou · 21/12/2022 17:11

Absolutely.

Look around for art classes for the new year but in the mean time, there are some fantastic youtube tutorials if she wants to fine-tune her pencil skills.

Theydoyaknow · 21/12/2022 17:12

Hugely talented!!!!

eatdrinkandbemerry · 21/12/2022 17:12

My almost 9 year old couldn't do anything like that so yes I'd say so

The sketchbooks oh my gosh they cost a bomb she goes through so many and the art supplies. I think I will enquire with an art shop she will just sit and draw for hours until she thinks it's ok. Better than playing on the tablet I suppose. 🤣🤣🤣

This exactly.

PlaitBilledDuckyPuss · 21/12/2022 17:13

Yes, very talented! As well as pp suggestions I would say, try to give her the opportunity to experiment with different media - perhaps take her somewhere like The Range where they sell lots of different paint types.

I agree. The eyes especially.

Coxspurplepippin · 21/12/2022 17:13

I'd say that's talented for any age, never mind 9. No idea about classes but there's certainly plenty of stuff online.

Lampzade · 21/12/2022 17:15

That is fantastic. Wow

RudsyFarmer · 21/12/2022 17:15

First of all, yes!

is she copying drawings or is this coming from her imagination?

HomeAGnome · 21/12/2022 17:15

Wow , exploit that talent Grin it looks great to me
