Hearing a loo with no power source

We have a downstairs loo with no heating. Generally it's ok but uncomfortable during extra cold snaps like the last week. Not a big deal as we can just go upstairs, but got me wondering if there are any temporary heating solutions out there that don't require mains access? We do have an electric light in there but to fit eg an electric wall heater would require fairly invasive channelling and re plastering, which I'd rather avoid.
It's very narrow so no room for anything free standing.
I did. wonder about a terracotta pot candle heater on a shelf, although not sure how safe it would be to leave unattended.
Other than that, am out of ideas.
If the solution does exist, I'm sure MN will know about it!!
Thanks !

Oops, thought you were hearing weird noises from loo when I saw your post title!

There’s no mains sockets on the outside walls of the loo?

you could take power from the lighting circuit but there’d still be, along with using mains power from one of the sockets outside, some degree of cutting plasterboard to route cables to a heater.

Can you not still get infrared bulbs? I seem to remember a large bulb that does throw out heat, and a red glow!

Very unsafe, so please dont do this.

Only problem with the infra-bulb idea is OP would need to leave it on (all day? ) to heat the room.
though I can’t think of anything else right now.

use it as a wine store in the winter OP!

My Granny didn't have heating in her bathroom and had an infrared ceiling light. It won't heat up the room indefinitely but I remember it did give off a powerful heat if you were directly under it. Maybe it would be enough to make it slightly more bearable to bear your bare bits. 🤣

Breathmiller · 21/12/2022 12:36

Or even bare your bare bits. No bears involved

Yes I did wonder about a heated bulb but probably not very energy efficient? Will look into it though because we could always swap it in when we have visitors or when it's particularly cold and then swap out for a normal bulb when not needed
