How long are you having to wait for a doc appt?

No idea if this is reasonable anyone, but for me it's 3 weeks and that's for a phone chat, not face to face appointment. Is that good, bad, average?

How long are you being told to wait?

Non-urgent phone appointment is now at least five weeks

ApproachingTheBig40 · 21/12/2022 11:01

Call same day am or pm depending when i call them.
9/10 times they then do face to face same day or following morning.
Longest ive waited is 2 days

Battlecat98 · 21/12/2022 11:04

Same 3 weeks for phone call.

Our GP runs a triage service in the morning so you call, explain your issue, receptionist puts you on hold, consults triage GP, and then either books you a face to face or phone appointment for that day depending on what GP advises.

V difficult if not impossible to book appointments with GP in advance though but you can for nurse/ nurse practitioner.

MissLucyEyelesbarrow · 21/12/2022 11:09

GPs are doing one million consultations per day, up 20% since 2019, despite GP numbers falling.

What is ‘’not good enough’ is 12 years of under-investment in primary and community care, and persistent failures by Government to deliver their promise of more GPs.

No routine appts available at my GP at all. I have an ear infection that started on Friday. Monday am called GP, got a paramedic appt today at 1430, no other slots available

notacooldad · 21/12/2022 11:15

Phoned yesterday about a sore elbow at 08.30am. I was seeing a nurse at 09.45am.
I phone for my medication and it's ready to be picked up 2 says later.
I needed a phone appointment a few weeks ago and got one for four days later ( non urgent appointment)

CornishGem1975 · 21/12/2022 11:16

Haven't struggled once not even through the pandemic. Can generally get either a telephone or a face to face appointment same day. Non-urgent pre-bookable is normally within 2-3 days.
