Is it normal to feel extra stressed this time of year??

Shamelessly looking for validation here.

I have worked 8 days back to back and feel exhausted. DH shift worker so also been doing long 13 hour days. The house is a cluttered mess quite frankly. For instance there is a cardboard box where the Christmas tree will go into, just sat casually next to the Christmas tree. The new printer on the floor in a corner of the lounge as we still don’t have a desk for it to go on. A pile of cushions at the top of the stairs that I need to run to the charity shop with but just don’t have the time. Add in all the usual household mess, crumbs by the toaster, seeds from bell peppers that we chopped for dinner last night on the floor, photos printed out that aren’t yet in frames. Washing basket full and can’t remember the last time it was empty despite doing a load every day or sometimes every two days….

Is this normal across other households?! I still have two people to buy for for Christmas. I love this time of year but this year it is absolutely frantic and I can’t wait for January when I feel somewhat on top of things.

Yes I think so. Christmas is stressful. Our house is an absolute pit because both me and DP are unwell at the moment and have no energy for cleaning. Luckily I finished my Christmas shopping before we both got ill however I will admit I ordered most of it on Amazon for convenience. DP has covid - if he tests negative on Christmas Eve I'm going to have to blitz the whole house in one day because family will be coming over.

You've just worked 8 days with no break, no wonder you are stressed! You've had no time. I'd say absolutely normal to feel stressed out.
