Xmas tip for agency cleaner?

I began using a regular cleaner from an agency about two months ago, once every fortnight for 4 hours. Should I tip her for Xmas? And if so, how much? She is a great cleaner with a great attitude, and is a student who could use the money. I pay the agency £15 per hour ( SE London).

Just unsure as I have never had a cleaner before.

I usually give an extra week’s pay or thereabouts

been cleaning for a decade.

It’s up to you.

Some of my clients don’t give anything, some give a candle, a box of chocs or a bottle of something. One gives £25 in vouchers.

Never been given any cash, certainly never anything equivalent to the cost of a clean.

Thanks for the responses. I am not so keen on giving a candle or chocs for fear of giving it wrong, but I just wondered if money might offend. I think not though, not in these times!

I've always given an extra weeks pay and my cleaner has been appreciative.

Everyone I know gives about a weeks pay as a gift. How could that be offensive? I'm sure they'd much prefer cash than chocolates!

I gave our cleaner a Christmas food hamper last year; I knew she was struggling as a single mum and would sacrifice to provide the best Christmas for her kids. We got the 'nice' extra bits for her, so she didn't have to. She was very grateful.

This year we've a new cleaner, also through an agency, and they didn't tell us until late last week that she'd be off over Christmas, so I didn't get the chance to give anything as I didn't know it was her last clean of the year until after the fact!

Because my cleaner seems to frequently change, I paid a week's extra to the agency and messaged the owner asking her to distribute to my regular cleaners accordingly. I also left out some chocolates (just in case!).

Week's pay it is then!
