Newborn throw up

BT11 · 20/12/2022 10:33

My boy is 5 days old. He is breastfed and has been as happy and calm as anything.

This morning I woke up and theres this throw up next to him. He is still feeding/pooing fine.

When in hospital he had some spit up that was darker almost a dark yellow though and midwife said that it's 100% normal.

I feel this is darker than last time and just wondering if anyone can help give me a little reassuring about it 🙂

I will add that I have been very unwell since the birth and have had severe constipation. I had to have an enema at hospital last night to clear it.

Perhaps that could also be something to do with it?

Looks totally normal to me. Mine had bright yellow throw ups from colostrum

Anything green is a concern but I'm sure yellow is ok. If you're worried mention it to you midwife when you see her next.

I had fybogel for constipation after my last baby. It definitely helped.

Congratulations xx

At 5 days old, aren't you due midwife visit today? Ask them, they'll know more than MN.

And/or, until the age of 4 weeks you and your baby are still under the care of your hospital's midwifery unit. Give them a call if you're not able to see your midwife soon enough. I did with mine on day 5 too, and they were great.

Thanks for much for the responses! I have my appointment today so I will cover everything throw up wise then.

On so much medication due to delivery and blood loss. Was unable to eat for a few days which has also given baby watery stools. Just phoned midwife team who said all is fine.

Just can't get him to settle - ahhhhh 😫
