F*ck I left the oven on overnight

I only realised this morning when I made my morning cuppa. I can’t have quite turned the oven off. It must have been at a lowish heat as when I opened the door, it wasn’t super hot. I’m a bit shook up but now worrying how much it’s cost. Will it be expensive?

According to the tinternet, it costs roughly 21p-28p per hour to run an oven- assuming that doesn’t take into account the temperature. So even if it was 10 hours you are only looking at £2-£3 extra

It won't be that bad. We used to slow cook (60 - 70 degrees) lamb or pork joints from 10pm Sat to 5pm Sunday and it cost no more than roasting on high heat for a hour or two.

It's done now, probably not as bad as you fear. Do a meter reading so you know the damage and chalk it off. So glad my youngest has moved out this year he would leave the oven on all night and the heating all whilst claiming to be an eco warrior 🙄.

It rather depends on your oven and your electricity tariff. Check your meter.

A constant low heat shouldn't be too bad. You can't undo it now so no point beating yourself up about it.

Season0fTheWitch · 20/12/2022 11:27

If you hadn't turned it quite off I'm assuming the knob wasn't turned all the way around- so maybe it was at 60 degrees ish? it shouldn't be terribly expensive. I'd say between £3-£6 maybe, I highly doubt it would be even near £10.

Oblomov22 · 20/12/2022 11:35

It's done. So why worry.

I did this last year because I was drunk and it wasn't on that low 🤦🏼‍♀️ was horrified with myself but it literally made no noticeable difference cost wise. The chicken burgers were fucked though, unless you wanted to chew on a shotput!

Shot put chicken burgers🤣 I left my heating on overnight, when I told my cousin she said stop bragging, that I would be buying Lurpak next🙈

itsgettingweird · 20/12/2022 14:55

Just leave the oven door open and turn off the heating - offset the little it would have cost you!
