Why are they not delivering?!

I work for a large online retailer so I do have some insight into this.

Basically the Royal Mail strike at this time of year means everyone has sent their parcels with other services.

That means EVRI (being the cheapest alternative and top of the list on places like eBay) have been absolutely swamped. Way beyond anything they've seen before.

Some areas are okay (all my personal deliveries have been fine and they're delivering about 85% of our parcels on time and we send about 1 million a week!)

Other areas where perhaps they have compounding factors like staffing problems are obviously not fine.

ChristmasSparkleTastic · 20/12/2022 07:45

Yes thanks I'n sure that's it.

My parcel was posted on 9th. I'm so annoyed. How could they not have anticipated that a post office strike would meant they need more staff?! It's not bloody rocket science is it?! 🙈🙈🙈

I'm in my 6th week of waiting OP. The item ordered is vintage & unique, so I can't just go out and get another. I'm praying and praying it turns up undamaged.

Christmasinbed · 20/12/2022 08:41

There must be warehouses somewhere that're packed to the rafters with all this undelivered stuff.

GoingtotheWinchester · 20/12/2022 08:42

@ChristmasSparkleTastic I’m not sure getting more staff is that easy 🤷‍♀️

GoodnightJude1 · 20/12/2022 08:42

Very lucky here in Cambridgeshire….our Evri deliveries are the only ones that can be relied on! Plus the delivery lady is lovely 😊

So basically we can't order anything online anymore! It's so fucking annoying 🙈

I'm still waiting for a package dispatched to Evri on 24 November. Tracking hasn't updated in four weeks until yesterday when I got an alert to say Evri now have it. Update this morning is that my parcel has been delayed again 😭 not holding out much hope. Also ordered something on Saturday for next day delivery. It was dispatched on time so should have been here Sunday but still no tracking update from Evri other than they have the have the parcel 🤷

iliketartan · 20/12/2022 09:01

No problems in my neck of the woods with Evri - often receive my parcels within 24 hours of ordering so maybe it's a localised issue?

SEmyarse · 20/12/2022 09:03

I work for evri. Yes we have massive staff shortages that aren't going to be solved. This is a convenient excuse for evri, since lot of industries have staff shortages.

BUT our shortages are predominantly caused by dreadful treatment this year, so easily a third of drivers have given up. They just don't pay what they've agreed and you spend your whole time chasing pay anomalies.

AND this would be easily solvable if they would allow us to work in the mornings. We're not allowed to start working until the current days stuff has arrived, and they don't put any sensible cut off times on the lorries so we're not getting on the road til midday. If they let me work on the backlog in the mornings I could do 200 parcels per day instead of the 100 I'm currently managing.

dontknowwhatisbest · 20/12/2022 09:05

We live fairly rurally and so rely on online shopping a lot. I've never had any problems at all with Evri, either for deliveries or returns. I've recently started using them for sending personal parcels too - much cheaper than RM and more convenient because the drop off points are typically open extended hours, Sundays etc wheras getting to the post office is a real pain.

HimiJendrix · 20/12/2022 09:07

No problems with Evri where I am. It helps that my delivery guy is brilliant. I was talking to him yesterday and he said that he wasn't as busy as he was this time last year. I think it's area dependent.

Equimum · 20/12/2022 09:22

I bought something on Vinted in 1st December. The seller deposited it at the Evri drop point on 3rd December and tracking g telling us both that the parcel is awaiting collection from there. So it's basically still at the drop point nearly three weeks later. I've had to go and buy a brand new version of what I ordered, and am now hugely out of pocket, but don't believe I'll have the other by the end of the week. Unfortunately, this is playing right into the hands of Amazon. All my Christmas shopping from that point in has been via Amazon, which I hate, but it's the only way I know I'll get my shopping!

Our local Evri lady is amazing. Last Wednesday I ordered something from M&S that i couldn't get from any local stores. I resigned myself that it might not turn up until after Christmas but it actually turned up the next day by our Evri lady so very pleased.
