New boiler costs

Our boiler packed up a few weeks ago and we have just had a quote for a new one, £4000. Ordinary has boiler, not combi.

That includes installation and VAT, 16 TRVs, alter pipes in airing cupboard. House is 5 bed.
No new controls or thermostat though.

Has anyone had a new boiler installed recently?

Yes we just got a new one for 2k, and it's a decent one for a large 3/4 bed house (some we were quoted the same price for were better suited to flats). I think that sounds too high and you need to get a couple more quotes.

Our combi was £4K a few months ago. It’s a big one for a 4 bed.

We didn’t get a new thermostat either but I got Hive in the Black Friday sale

Get several quotes. Sounds a lot

I suspect a premium has been added as they can do it before Christmas.
I'll get a few more quotes, we can wrap up for a bit longer.

Local independent company.

Make sure the controls and thermostat are both compatible and up to date enough for the new system. We've just had to replace those a couple of years after the absolute minimum of a replacement boiler was carried out (prior to us buying the house) as the heating failed and they were incompatible.
