Is it normal not to have close family friends?

For context I wasn’t born in London but have lived in my house 8 years. We have three DD’s, oldest is 5 years and youngest is 6 weeks!

As youngest is so small we can’t make it to my family up north this year …. over the next few weeks we’re seeing dh’s family a few times as they’re in Kent but that’s it.

I have some Mum friends but they’re spending Christmas with family that live nearby like Kent/middlesex etc and we haven’t made any plans or play dates over Christmas.

It means any holiday feels like a long stretch! I heard that we’d make more friends when dd1 started school but haven’t yet (though only one term and I was distracted by imminent arrival!)

Is it normal? Who do you see? Are they childhood friends or school ones?

(And yes I know I can reach out and make an effort myself but between a 6 week old and a tummy bug don’t quite have the energy at the moment!)

Sorry - but I didn't make mummy friends. Don't know why I was ignored by them all.
But I have a few nice family friends who lived in the same block as we did years abo. We also have a few colleagues who progressed onto family friend territory.
Not too many - but enough.
