Do you really have to declare things like high cholesterol for travel insurance?

I am trying to sort travel insurance for a trip next year. I've got slightly raised cholesterol, but was not advised to take any meds.

The standard compare market travel insurance policy questions now include this and other stuff.

Would I have been wrong not to disclose it? It's bumped up the price, I'm sure.

You have to declare everything for travel insurance. If you put in a claim they will get your medical records from the GP and see everything. If you haven’t declared something they can refuse to pay out. If your health changes once you have taken out the insurance you must ring them up and tell them. It’s better to pay a higher fee than find yourself with hefty medical bills that they won’t pay.
