It seems like Royal Mail are not bothering with tracking any more.

I've received two long awaited parcels this morning and I also had one last week. All three had tracking but none of them had the sticker tab pulled off or the barcode scanned as usual. I thought I'd post that this is happening because it might affect someone depending on the proof of tracking this Christmas. Also, we seem to have new stand-in posties too. I guess this is why they're not bothering with tracking. My old postie told me there was a 6 week training for the tracking service.

Ah thanks. I’ve two parcels due from John Lewis, both sent Royalmail 24hr tracked. It’s stuff for me not gifts so I’m not bothered if they don’t turn up for a few days, There’s not been any tracking updates as yet.

Dodecaheidyin · 19/12/2022 12:11

I had something a couple of weeks ago that had a tracking link but the RM site said tracking wouldn't start until delivery had been attempted.

mummymayhem18 · 20/12/2022 23:12

I'm still waiting on a parcel from Shein that was posted on the 29th November. Came into the country on the 3rd December and nothing seems to be happening with it on the Royal Mail tracking. I thought it had got lost but finally got a message through to say they had it but since last Wednesday the tracking just says at Gatwick and nothing since . Absolutely ridiculous and they were for Christmas as well.

I posted something today recorded delivery and recorded delivery isn’t tracked any more, it only updates once delivered now. You have to pay for 24 hr tracking if you want it tracked apparently.

Ive had something posted to me end of November that is still showing ‘accepted at X post office’ 🙄

EspeciallyD · 20/12/2022 23:18

The tracking is all over the place. I had an "it's been delivered" notification on the 8th when it hadn't, the sender chased it up l and they said it was still in transit, it finally turned up yesterday. DD had a tracking message saying "attempted to deliver on the 5th" yesterday which followed up with "gone back to the (unnamed) depot, collect it yourself". It turned up an hour later.

comeondover · 20/12/2022 23:41

I was emailed by a company I'd ordered from, saying that RM had told them the package had been lost, and did I want a refund or the items re-sent? I said no thanks as the package had already been delivered to me.

It’s very tricky but the ‘it just turned up’ posts are giving me hope.
im leaving DH and moving out with the kids after Xmas, and BT have sent my broadband equipment by Royal Mail but of course it’s been held up. Am worried that lack of wifi is going to delay or make the move difficult as kids will find it hard and I need to be able to work from home

Ocrumbs · 21/12/2022 07:58

Mines been good and very accurate. The one the other day even told me the name of the postie who had delivered it.

Toley · 21/12/2022 08:00

Royal Mail are simply shooting themselves on the foot with this strike.

Rowthe · 21/12/2022 08:02

I had something sent out over the weekend.

The tracking has been updated and says due to be delivered today.

I think it's only stuff that has been affected by the strikes that maybe isnt being delivered, also someone previously said it's a last in first out service.

If something is already late they dont get judged on how late it is, but if it is late. So if it is late you might wait weeks. And stuff sent for delivery after will be prioritised.

So hoping it will be delivered.

I really hope it arrives for you and wish you all the best 💐

@mummymayhem18 my shein parcel was ordered on 14th dec and arrived yesterday by royal mail- was yours standard or express shipping? mine was showing stuck in london for a few days, then moved to a depot 2 hrs away from home at 7am yesterday and parcel suddenly arrived at 10am. Hope your order arrives! x

Crucible · 21/12/2022 08:55

I sent items on Monday with tracking to a government office - important paperwork and it worked perfectly, arrived yesterday. Very prompt.

Grantanow · 21/12/2022 09:15

I have no complaints about our postal service in South Somerset. Apart from minor delays to be expected at Xmas it seems to work well.

Bluevelvetsofa · 21/12/2022 09:20

My parcel arrived yesterday, but showed as being in a depot for six days prior to that. The postie said they had been told to prioritise parcels over letters, so there will be plenty of letters and cards that don’t get delivered I imagine.

It seems that a number of companies have moved away from RM whilst the strikes have been on. If they get decent service from the alternatives, they may not go back, so RM will lose more business.

jlpartnerrs · 21/12/2022 09:37

I've got 90% of my christmas presents from Rapanui lost in the system, no-one will be getting anything at this rate.
That will teach me to be environmental

Royal Mail are simply shooting themselves on the foot with this strike.

This is so wrong!!!! No one wants the job of delivering parcels at the price we want to pay!! Not evri, not anyone. No one wants to deliver other than to big city. What do you think will happen to mail for places like st Austell, the isle of wight, places outside the South East if royal mail cease to exist? Royal mail has to do it. Private companies won't.

LaughingLemur · 21/12/2022 11:02

I'd given up hope on a parcel sent Royal Mail 24 hour tracked on the 12th but it arrived this morning. Good luck to everyone still waiting for a parcel.

DazzlePaintedBattlePants · 21/12/2022 11:07

Still waiting on a 24hr tracked parcel sent on the 15th. Only message on tracking is that it's been received at the post office the sender posted it from:(

PlaitBilledDuckyPuss · 21/12/2022 11:08

A slight edit needed to your thread title:

It seems like Royal Mail are not bothering with tracking any more.

Sad
Theteapotsbrokenspout · 21/12/2022 11:10

I sent a parcel on the 7th to London and the tracking still says an update will only be provided when we attempt to deliver your item.
I'm really upset that I allowed plenty of time yet it now looks unlikely to get there for Christmas (if at all Sad ).

Brokendaughter · 21/12/2022 11:11

I found a supposedly tracked & signed for parcel thrown in my shed earlier this week.

It had been posted last month & was the sort that should have been transported in a cage as it was very high value.

The sender hasn't been told it has been delivered & I hadn't been told it had been either so it could have sat in the shed for a week.

I won't use Royal Mail now.
That was posted before the strikes, they have just become that bad.

Also had other parcels, similarly high value & paid for 24 hrs tracked & signed delivery shoved through the letterbox, popped in my recycling bin & all a couple of weeks or more late.

I've had post twice this month, one time included 3 weeks of my sons comic but he is still a couple of weeks short & I have no idea what else is missing.

JillyBoel22 · 21/12/2022 11:12

I sent my passport off first class signed for - was stressing as the tracking never updated after two+ weeks to say it had been delivered but then my new passport arrived so seems like they aren't scanning letters either once delivered

MattDamon · 21/12/2022 11:14

I'm in London and something I ordered yesterday was just delivered. No rhyme or reason!

They will if Royal Mail cant do the job.

Plenty if market share RM are willingly giving away.
