Velvet sofa with a dusty husband?

We need a new sofa. The current leather one is completely dead. I like lots of the velvet sofas I'm seeing. But husband has a job where he gets quite dusty. I don't want to live in a house where he has to get showered and changed before he sits down. How well does velvet cope with general grub and family life?! Kids are 11 and clearly past the stage of clambering. But we all spill things from time to time.
Thanks!

We have a fabric sofa and a bissell upholstery cleaner which is amazing.

We figured that the fabric sofa was half the price of a leather one so if needed we can change it sooner.

Just order the sofa in a matching dust colour?
It's when he develops cobwebs you'll have a problem. Xmas Smile

I have a velvet sofa and find that throws are my absolute best friend.

We have a velvet sofa. We had it treated, so it can be wiped. It does get dusty along the top of the back cushions, but it’s not much of a problem to vacuum it with the cordless small bit of the cleaner.
