Not really sure where to post this. I'm looking for a gift for a 21yo lad (&possibly girlfriend) who lives near Durham. I've seen the ghost tours but don't really think that's his thing. Any suggestions greatly received! Thanks

Axe throwing at Valhalla North?

Newtrix · 18/12/2022 20:28

Or an escape room? There's Durham escape rooms or Cluedini.

Ooh axe throwing could be good!

It's great fun, and something he and his girlfriend could do.

Is that Valhalla better than the one in spennymoor?

The activity centre at Slaney Hall does vouchers and a number of different activity options.

Newtrix · 18/12/2022 21:54

They're both pretty similar I think but Valhalla just pips it.

There’s a go ape at beamish you could get vouchers for?

TattiePants · 18/12/2022 22:09

The high ropes course at Beamish closed about 5 years ago after noise complaints from the neighbours!

There’s Karting NE between Durham and Sunderland for a go karting / track experience or Moor House Adventure Centre (also between Durham and Sunderland) does outdoor experiences - ace throwing, building fires, building rafts etc. There’s also Adventure Access at Seaham harbour that do canoeing and kayaking.

  • axe not ace throwing!

just thought of a couple of others….if he likes golf then I imagine Ramside Hall will do some form of experience day. There’s also a surf school at South Shields street if he’d like to learn to surf.
