Evri now delivering my original items even though both companies said they had cancelled original and sending out a replacement!

Just that really…

ordered Crocs for one DD and a north face jacket for the other from two separate companies…

Both we ordered at the start of of November and tracking has them lost in space from the 1st of December…

Phoned both companies and explained and both cancelled the original item, saying Evri had lost them and sent out a replacement which while taking a little while both arrived last week.

Was out this afternoon and had a text from Evri to say they were delivering my items and came back the original Crocs and Jacket.

The NF jacket especially is quite high value and the Crocs weren’t cheap either.

Would you return, my conscience is saying yes but with them both being from huge chains who flippantly told me original items were lost and sent out a replacement no questions asked and and me having 3 DD’s who would be delighted with an extra gift I’m having a moment…

What would you do?

I know i will get flamed but keep them I defo would 😀

Allthingsbrightandugly · 18/12/2022 17:11

I’d tell them but expect they’ll let you keep them as they’ll have got the money back from evri

i wouldn’t be out of pocket returning them tho I’d expect returns postage to be organised

Nottodaty · 18/12/2022 17:15

Evri will inform them that they have now been delivered.

same as you parcel missing. So order cancelled the order and received a refund. Then got an email saying Evri will deliver your item and the refund reversed. For one item the other refund was still processing as investigating with Evri.

This is wrong. Evri take ages to refund and won't now they have delivered.

Read the companies terms and conditions. Sometimes it states that if you have been refunded or replaced then it is the buyers responsibility to return. Will they check? Maybe if Evri refuse to pay out the claim. So it's a gamble.

I'd let them know they've been delivered. Just because they're big companies doesn't mean it's ok to steal from them.

You say they sent new ones flippantly but I'd say that's just good customer service, making sure you got stuff in time for Christmas.

fedupofthiscoldffs · 18/12/2022 18:21

I'd say nothing and wait to see if they contact you.

This happened to me with a huge retailer/evri - ordered 2x cushions and they kept sending each individually and 'losing' them. Five arrived in the end, but the whole thing had been such a hassle (hours on hold to customer service) so I left it up to them to request a return. This was six months ago, I still have five cushions.

Theunamedcat · 19/12/2022 00:01

Have you received the replacements?

dontgobaconmyheart · 19/12/2022 00:42

I would absolutely let them know I've now received the original parcel and would send back a duplicate or expect to be charged for them. Presumably you were quite prompt in contacting them despite the fact there are all round delays with couriers and they rather decently acted promptly to make sure you had a replacement when they couldn't get any information from the courier. That strikes me as a gesture of goodwill and good service when they are under a lot of pressure, not as flippant.

If Evri can prove they delivered then when it is looked into that will be apparent, these things are tracked so I don't think it's a case of them 'claiming back the money' as easily as you think. Either way it's not right is it, but presumably everyone who keeps duplicate orders knows that but isn't bothered, which is up to them.

AlwaysFullOfQuestions22 · 19/12/2022 00:49

Id keep them too
