14 degrees Celsius tomorrow

After a week or so of freezing temperatures, we are up to 14 degrees celsius here.
What a change - not a couple of degrees difference, but 14 degrees.

Will make a massive difference to the heating costs.

Hallelujah

Saucery · 18/12/2022 17:01

If I can get out for a decent walk without sliding about all over the place I’ll be happy!

transformandriseup · 18/12/2022 17:02

It has gone up to 12 degrees here and we have already seen the difference in cost.

NewBootsAndRanty · 18/12/2022 17:07

This evening's temperatures just look wrong Grin

14 degrees Celsius tomorrow
Mosaic123 · 18/12/2022 17:14

It's very odd that the temperature rises as the evening continues. Abnormal in fact.

AuntieMarys · 18/12/2022 17:18

Washing out

whenindoubtgotothelibrary · 18/12/2022 17:25

So odd - we had a hard frost overnight, it's been freezing rain/sleet nearly all day, but temperature is now 6 and predicted to be 11 degrees by midnight (London)

onmywayamarillo · 18/12/2022 17:27

Will feel like summer 🤣 I doubt it will be that warm here though

onmywayamarillo · 18/12/2022 17:28

@AuntieMarys good call on the washing I've got 3 duvet covers that need doing 😀😀

codehelp · 18/12/2022 17:29

So weird. Especially the overnight increase!

amylou8 · 18/12/2022 17:37

I thought the thermometer in my car had packed up when there wasn't a minus in front of it. Downside it's now pouring with rain!

cakeorwine · 18/12/2022 17:56

Might get some decent ventilation in the house

Ha! I am temporarily in California & our daily low (at dawn) is down to 12-13. We are bundled up (!)

YukoandHiro · 18/12/2022 20:13

THANK GOD!
My house has been bitterly cold even with heating on practically 24/7 as I have young children with respiratory issues. Scared about the cost, I'm so pleased it was only a week

DinosApple · 18/12/2022 20:17

Hurrah!
We have no boiler at the moment (until mid January) and it has been 5 degrees in our bedrooms for the last week.

Tomorrow morning I'll be opening the windows to let the heat in!

Hoothootmf · 18/12/2022 20:21

6c atm and raining heavily which im so pleased about, as I want the snow to fuck off.

DeathMetalMum · 18/12/2022 20:22

Hurrah! I noticed a slight difference today and the whole house had a lye in, and we were up two hours later than usual. So we didn't need to put the heating on as much!

I've already planned which order I'm washing things in. It's supposed to be dry on Tuesday and my washing line is going to be jam packed.

BMW6 · 18/12/2022 21:15

Wonderful!!
Anyone who has mould- get all the windows open and give your home a proper airing. Make the absolute most of it!
Turn the heating off and air in!

Dulcetto · 18/12/2022 21:20

For the record I LOVE snow and frosty sunny mornings. I’ve clocked up well over 25 miles walking in it this week. However burst pipe on the main road leading to no water and no heating this morning along with high bills etc. and even I’m done with it. Bit of a relief for everyone and especially folks really struggling with energy costs.

Positively balmy!

FourChimneys · 18/12/2022 21:37

About an hour ago we realised how warm it was and switched the heating right off. I have opened all the upstairs windows to let some fresh air blow through the bedrooms.

We are fortunate enough not to be struggling with the bills but it must be a huge relief to get a bit of respite for those who are.

DS reports that he has been for an evening run in shorts and t-shirt.

lurchermummy · 19/12/2022 08:33

Wierdly warm, wet and windy in the Cotswolds today. I prefer the snow! But it is nice not to have to worry about the cost of heating.

Reallybadidea · 19/12/2022 08:36

On Wednesday morning it was -12 here, now it's +12! 24 degrees difference in 5 days 😯

AuntieMarys · 19/12/2022 08:48

My washing is in the line

picklemewalnuts · 19/12/2022 10:24

@BMW6 doesn't it matter that it's wet outside? That's what I don't understand about mould. Cold and damp=mould. Warm and damp=mould.

Where does airing the house come in? I know it does, I just can't quite work out why.

MooseBreath · 19/12/2022 10:46

I hate it. The frost was beautiful and the cold was a very welcome change after an abnormally hot summer and warm autumn. It's not like the sun is out. 14⁰C and grey drizzle onto patchy, muddy grass is making me rather gloomy. Still can't dry the laundry.
