No inspiration, but a similar boat. 3 kids and 2 stone underweight! Need to get a grip, get fitter, and find some fun! Seem to work, housework, parent... eat & drink too much! Need a plan as well!

Find something that brings you joy, then it will
be easier to continue. Try and find a hobby which is active.

I meant 2 stone overweight! Not sure I've ever been underweight!

I am 45 and been suffering with bad anxiety, low self esteem and depression. About 10 years ago I went to the gym and felt like the worst person there and it took a while, but I can see the change physically and mentally. Now when I am there I am always encouraging others as its all about you and your battles. Dont worry about others. Invest in a Personal Trainer and even a Dietician. You got this!

Weightlifting-has changed my body shape and improved my mental health. I've made so many new friends
Joing a choir-really fun and therapeutic
Stopped drinking wine-lost weight and sleep better. I now have gin and light tonic or vodka and soda so not teetotal.

I know it's not popular on MN but joining somewhere like Slimming world or WW would help focus on the weight side of things.

You have to find some form of exercise that you enjoy so it doesn't seem like an endurance test and there is so much choice now.
Even walking short distances will help.

Well, this year I have managed to
-ditch the SSRIs and lost almost a stone as a direct consequence
-buy a house after a long and acrimonious divorce
-decorate and get the house in shape with minimal input from others, inlcuding learning new skills, such as carpenting
-finally get a job title I've been trying to get for the past 2 years, in a new place (starts next year)

So there's a getting-shit-done attitude, which will help me lose the other 3 stone I've put on since I started on SSRIs; getting fit again is part of that. I might even start getting ready for another relationship in my life, but if not it's not the end of the world. Definitely getting out there and involved in the community more.

I turned 40 this year and also have nearly got a divorce…

Started yoga classes and though I wasn’t over weight before now feel a bit fitter and more toned

Have also been doing more baking/cooking healthy meals

Like @Skethylita I’ve also been doing house decorating, painting lots of skirting boards and radiators, which I would never have thought of before!

On New Year's Eve 2017 I signed up with a group to work towards walking the Yorkshire Three Peaks in summer 2018. I did do it. Setting goals can help. I wouldn't necessarily set the same goal again, but the training to do it was fantastic. I have a lot of friends I walk with now.

Other programmes that helped me were Couch to 5k and my fitness pal.

Open water swimming, lots of l people do it of all shapes and sizes.
