Need home fragrance recommendations

One of my new year plans is to have a beautifully scented home. I'm thinking scented candles and / or reed diffusers in the hall and upstairs on the landing, or maybe those vaporiser things that you see in MUJI etc

Please could you recommend candles, diffusers or similar that are actually effective, last for more than a few days, and don't cost stupid money. I'm talking £30 max for a candle or diffuser. Thanks

Valentte are supposed to be nice. I'm getting a reed diffuser for Christmas but haven't used it yet, but they get very good reviews

monsteronahill · 18/12/2022 15:33

I love a diffuser but tend to find my more expensive ones last better / throw scent better. You might like an essential oil diffuser (you can get various makes!) the white company one is really good and each oil is about £10 from the white company, the scent throw is amazing and they last ages as you only need a few drops of the oil.

Usually these threads fill up with multiple people telling you to open a window, but just as people buy things that look nice, taste nice, feel cosy, sound nice they also like things that smell nice!

Yep, don't forget about how toxic they are.

I love my neom diffuser. It makes me really happy. I got the medium one and the set of four oils. It makes the entire downstairs smell nice

idontevenknowanyonecalledblurb · 18/12/2022 15:38

It's slightly more but there's always deals on look fantastic

Is it worth the money ?

Baxdream · 18/12/2022 15:42

I'd agree with neom although I use white company scents at Christmas

The ones I recommended are 100% essential oils no artificial or synthetic fragrances.

idontevenknowanyonecalledblurb · 18/12/2022 15:42

I'd say 100% I got it on a deal so it wasn't mega money but it really works- I have it in the kitchen and you can smell it all round the downstairs

Soho House do a Home range online and their diffusers are really nice and last for ages. Sainsburys do cheaper ones but they don't last as long and the smell isn't as subtle

someonecookmydinnerplease · 18/12/2022 15:52

I second the neom diffusers. The smell is gorgeous and it lasts ages. You can buy refills so don't have to buy a whole new one when it runs out. The candles are nice to "top up" the smell. The website often has offers on. Last month it had spend £40 get a free candle (the candles are about £35), so I bought two diffusers refills (which will last me nearly 6 months) and got a free candle.

I like the 'de-stress' scent. Often get compliments on the smell.

My thoughts exactly.

Right! I'm all in favour of ventilation, and we do open windows, but that will make the house smell neutral, as opposed to actively nice

I really like my glade tropical plugin

formulatingAresponse · 18/12/2022 16:17

Sometimes I just spray my perfume in the room and I've used really lovely reed infusers in the past.

I've been known to spray DS body mist he never uses in the living room because it smells really fruity

Lottapianos · 18/12/2022 17:04

Ok, I'm going to spring for a Neom diffuser, and see if they live up to the hype 😊 thanks everyone

@Lottapianos did it live up to the hype?!! I'm considering whether NEOM is worth the money!

Rubiscoisfantastic · 06/09/2025 22:57

I came across this lovely little business a few months ago. The owner produces the most gorgeous home fragrances. The reed diffusers last longer than anything I have tried. My favourite is Yorkshire Bramble. I just buy the refills now.

AHH I found a discount code which brought one of the reeds down to £45 but I too have chickened out for now 🤣 have you found a good alternative?
