Quick recommendation - an excellent recent-ish literary fiction book.

For DHs "stocking"

He likes any genre, as long as a book is "good". Previous particular likes are Ian McEwan and Louis de Bernieres, but he'll try anything.

TIA

My vote goes to Shuggie Bain.

Great suggestions, thank you all so much. DH and I have read a few of these already; you all have great taste. 😉

I hope others can get some inspiration from here, too 🙂

Another vote for crossroads. Absolutely loved it.

Shuggie Bain is a tricky one. I finished it in a couple of days. It was unputdownable. But I felt so down and depressed for ages afterwards. I’m not sure I really benefited from reading it.

Well I bout the Agent Zigzag book, as DH has a bit of an interest in both spies and WW2, But I realise it's not fiction. It's just as gripping as any fiction, though, apparently.

Thanks for your suggestions everyone. I've added many to my wish lists.
