Pretty sure my dc has strep a minus the rash

Very unwell over night but we have been trying to manage at home

Tried NHS 111 and was cut off 6 times before I managed to get through then after and hour and twenty mins they cut me off…

tried to reconnect and again cut off

now trying to call the MIU number and have been on hold for over 20 mins I’m 4th in the queue apparently

at what point do I give him and drive him the hour to the nearest walk in centre/a&e/call an ambulance! Dc is asthmatic and breathing has declined in the last 15 mins

Get them to hospital

EducatingArti · 18/12/2022 09:35

If you have a walk in centre and he is deteriorating, I'd set off now. Would probably get there quicker than waiting for an ambulance anyway. Take another adult with you if possible so that if he deteriorates in a life threatening way en route they could call 999.

LadyGardenersQuestionTime · 18/12/2022 09:35

"breathing has declined"? if you are worried about his breathing just call 999, 111 will probably send an ambulance anyway, or go to a&e

If his breathings declining get him to A&E

Minfilia · 18/12/2022 09:46

Just go straight to A&E if he has breathing problems!

Skinnermarink · 18/12/2022 09:46

If breathing has declined in last fifteen minutes then you’ve wasted some of that time posting on here. Get them to hospital. Good grief.

Pterrydactyl · 18/12/2022 09:47

I’d get him to the hospital right now if his breathing has been declining over the last 15 minutes.

TheLittlestLightOnTheXmasTree · 18/12/2022 09:48

Cannot believe the lack of basic common sense here! Just go to a&a!! Not post here

SweetSakura · 18/12/2022 09:49

Use the NHS 111 online assessment tool instead of calling?. But if breathing is declining then sounds like 999/a&e is needed.

whataballbag · 18/12/2022 09:50

I'm not sure people actually understand the scope of 111.

They will assess symptoms and refer to an appropriate service for treatment, within the recommended time frame. Most OOH gp have massive delays at the moment.

If your child is having breathing difficulties at the very least they need to be seen at a walk in, if not a&e.

Sarahcoggles · 18/12/2022 10:48

You may as well go to A&E because that's what 111 will tell you to do anyway

You can't for under 5s unfortunately.

I went online at 6pm last night. I was due a call back in 1 hour. 10am this morning they called to say sorry for the wait. I cancelled it at this point as have managed to get an OOOs appt for this PM.
