Smelly Feather / Down Duvet

Lambtales · 17/12/2022 23:29

I bought a feather and down duvet which smells of farmyard.

The first two I bought and subsequently returned also smelt the same. I figured this must be normal so I've kept the 3rd one.

I've washed it at 60° with bio powder and dettol cleanser but it still sinks.

Any tips for removing the smell please?

You can't remove the smell. It's cheap feathers- often from China. Only certain people can smell them, but to those that can, it's disgusting. You'll have to return it and get one elsewhere.

Argh yuk. That smell. Roast chicken mixed with farmyard poop.

Just farmyard poop, which has permeated all through my downstairs area during the washing and drying process.

It's vile. I was hoping washing would remove the smell but unfortunately not.

Currently have it hanging outside to air. Will have to give up if this doesn't work.
