Due to the Royal Mail strikes and post taking forever at the moment I decided to send two parcels by Evri this week. I know they have a bad reputation but I've never had any issues with them and I have a drop off point close to home so it's convenient.
I paid extra to have the higher level of insurance as both parcels were worth more than their standard £20 limit. I also paid extra for a signature on delivery just because I don't trust any courier at the moment as I've read about lots of items being delayed or missing.
Both parcels got delivered today and I have a photo of one being handed over to my friend in the doorway which is fine. But the photo of the other parcel is of it on the doorstep of my friend's parents house (where I had it sent) and I found out from her that they were out at the time of delivery and it was waiting for them when they returned.
When I checked the tracking on the website it says "Your parcel has been delivered and signed for at the delivery address
Signature:
To conduct contact-free deliveries we're not collecting signatures."
So am I right to be annoyed that I paid extra for a signature to ensure safe delivery and it was just left on the doorstep? It was only 60p extra for a signature so hardly worth complaining about but I just feel a bit peed off if I'm honest. Yes I know that nothing happened and they got the parcel when they arrived back home, but if I'd not paid that 60p it still would have been left on the doorstep so what's the point in paying the extra? I also understand the no signature thing since Covid, but the least they could do in lieu of a signature is hand it directly to the recipient?
