Apple pay keep having issues

Over last few months I've had problems with it failing to work.

The 1st time it seemed that my change of address hadn't updated properly for some reason BUT I had moved 7 months earlier and changed address with the bank I don't understand why it took so long for this to come to light? Last few times it's been supposedly lack of funds leading to payments declined except there were very much sufficient funds in the account.

After 2 very frustrating calls today just before customer services closed with apple and then my bank it seems I am now being told there is a £100 a day limit?

This is the first I've heard of this despite several calls to both apple AND my bank on the previous occasions when it failed.

Today I was in primark having done a load of Xmas shopping and had to leave it as it came up payment declined. So embarrassing!

Each time I call apple and the bank I feel I'm not getting an accurate explanation as to what the issue really is.

So I'm asking wise mners.

IS there a limit on how much you can spend on Apple Pay per day? If so what is your experience of the limit you have? Because the first call handler at the bank when I asked what the limit was said "it varies" but the 3rd I spoke to (yes I know!!!!) said it was £100 for everyone with my bank

Bank of Scotland for ref

I work for a bank.

Short answer- no Apple Pay does not have a daily limit.

It sounds like the call handler/s are referring to other limit parameters, which will vary on the type of card and some (not all) of these can be set and changed by the bank. It's hard to explain and I can't really go into detail. It will heavily depend what type of card you have. For some banks, there will be restrictions based on what type of account you hold.

Essentially, Apple Pay is just a digital print of your bank card.

Thanks for the quick reply. It's a visa debit card. I've been with the bank a long time and I'm beginning to wonder about changing to another bank for a number of reasons but this is definitely a factor. I shall be talking to them again tomorrow I am very unhappy with how the whole situation has been handled as this is the 4th time now I've had this issue and I've spoke to them several times about it - or am I best waiting till Monday when bosses might be more likely to be in?

It's bloody annoying and frankly patronising! I handle my money pretty well I don't need my bank treating me like a child who doesn't understand how such things work!

I work in a bank. Yes there is a daily limit, but it's more than £100. There is also a daily limit of transactions and you'd have to wait until midnight for it to reset.

I'd call Monday- more because a lot of departments will be closed tomorrow and you'll likely have more joy.

Thanks for the replies. I'll call Monday then rather than be further frustrated tomorrow.

Will attempt to get shipping again tomorrow but taking my purse and credit card (different bank!) this time.

Bloody frustrating though

Well my experience is that if there’s a limit it’s very high, as I bought an entire new car using my debit card via Apple Pay in 2018! I have never had an apple pay transaction declined or referred for a security, or even PIN check.
