Watching white lotus and star fish in Italian seems to be starra marina, in french I know it’s etoile de mer.
Co-incidence? (I love star fish!

I can tell you in Arabic it is literally 'star of the sea' or 'sea star' so similar to your Italian and French examples. I wonder if it's because the word was translated from Greek or Latin?
You do say Seahorse in English I wonder so I wonder why starfish translated with FISH instead of Sea?
