Ds has raging ear infection

I'm assuming ear infection. He has gunk coming from one ear, it's kind of bitty, waxy slime. He is very hot and high temp of 38.5. Calpol seems to take the edge off but he isn't himself at all, very cuddly and easily upset. Barely slept last night.

Spoke to 111 at 9.30am and they said he should be assessed within 12h but no one has called yet. Am I being impatient? Just that DS seems really miserable and I'm guessing just needs some antibiotics asap?

He's 13m old.

Should I ring back or just wait?

Do you have a walk-in nearby? 111 rarely rings back in time (or at all) in our area and even when they do it’s rarely useful.

@Vinvertebrate closest one is in the next city but everything online says consult 111 in the first instance.

That could be a burst eardrum (or leading to one). I got the runaround and ended up paying for a private GP who prescribed my own DS an antibiotic ear spray then and there (distributed on site so I didn’t even have to go into Boots). DocTap is the service I used. Yes, it costs but it was wonderful to have DS sorted and on the mend fast.
