Reverse Cold/Flu progression?

So I like ALOT of people have been really sick this week. I've had covid twice and it's nothing like this has been.

Confused as to what it is, it's like a cold but started low and then moved up? Never had it before.

Last Saturday woke up with a wet/productive cough and a horrendous sore throat worst I've ever had which got worse to the point I couldn't swallow without a big dramatic effort and wincing. My head was fine. Tired and drowsy but not congested and no headaches. The chest and throat got worse over the week, throat less painful yesterday and today but my chest is really heavy with..something yellow. And now my nose and head feel like a full on head cold.

Normally my chest is bad AFTER a cold not before. Anyone else have this random backwards lurgy?! I don't know whether to try get AB's for my yellow sputum chest or just keep doing what I'm doing. I'm breathless and wheezing but fine as long as I stay resting

Op I had this exact conversation last night with dp about the illness we've both got being like a reversed cold. He started first over a week ago with cough/bad chest and by a week it had moved to his head when he finally became snotty, blocked ears etc. I started a few days after with it and the same has happened to me, plus we've had chills and headaches etc. Now the dc have it and same seems to be happening. It's really unpleasant whatever it is, we've tested for covid and was negative.

@Hangupsrus thanks, I've been Googling wondering what to call it cause I couldn't really say it's a cold? It's a bad one isn't it?? I keep repeating to my partner's exasperation that covid was nothing compared to this! Haha but it's true my work mates all said the same thing And if so many people are out and about with something like this then isn't it a bit of a worry? More so than covid. This seems to be respiratory as it started in our chests. I hope it's just because it's been so long since we've all had the proper cold/flu it feels worse.

Breathless and wheezing for a week? I think you should try and see someone.
