Looking for a hassle free, idiot proof recipe for gingerbread men biscuits?

Never made them before, but wanting to bake some Christmassy snacks this week🎄

www.janespatisserie.com/2015/11/27/gingerbread-men/

the dough doesn't need chilling and it rolls really easily.

Have a look at 5 o’clock apron on Instagram. She’s got a recipe up on her reels and I find her stuff pretty straightforward.

BBC good food is normally pretty reliable

We buy a bag of gingerbread mix from the baking Isle at tesco. Add a little bit of golden syrup, butter and my little one adds water one spoon at a time so the mix is still stiff to hold it's shape.

They always taste lovely.

I will have a look at the bbc recipe…

I have actually been doing a lot of baking lately with Mary berry recipe book, and for the first time my cakes are a success haha… Maybe I’m getting over confident now with wanting to try the gingerbread men biscuits 😁

I made some with 3 year old DD, we are very amateur bakers and they were really easy.
We used this one www.bbcgoodfood.com/recipes/gingerbread-people/amp

Tesco do ready made gingerbread dough in a block if you’re happy just doing the rolling, cutting, baking and decorating. I have some ready in the fridge to do with dgd on Christmas Eve

In theory no! I think my recipe must have been wrong.

This is a classic recipe.

Joy of CookingGingerbread Men

Preheat oven to 350°F
Blend until creamy:
1/4 cup of butter
1/2 cup of white or brown sugar
Beat in:
1/2 cup dark molasses
Sift:
3 and 1/2 cups of all-purpose flour
Resift with:
1 teaspoon baking soda
1/4 teaspoon cloves
1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
1 teaspoon ginger
1/2 teaspoon salt
Add the sifted ingredients to the butter mixture in about three parts, alternating with:
1/4 cup water
You may have to knead in the last of the flour if you are not using an electric mixer.
Roll out on parchment paper to the desired thickness. Cut the gingerbread men out and place them on a cookie sheet on parchment paper. Bake for about 8-10 minutes depending on thickness. Touch the cookie and if it springs back after 8 minutes it is ready to cool on a rack.
