Going away - hiding the truth

Would it be awful to lie and say you were going to a conference in another country when you are actually going to a hotel alone for a few days break?
The only people who would be deceived are the mother's teenage children. No DH in the picture. Children would moan and want to go too. Mother just wants a break from the grind.
I am seriously asking for a friend!

Nope, not awful at all. There are times when I'd love a bit of me time away from the kids just to recharge.

The teens wouldn't actually ask about the conference much, nor would they be very interested. So she wouldn't have to invent details.

She should tell the teenagers that she’s having a break, and that they’ll need to deal.

Not awful, I can totally understand why she would want to do that. But preferably, tell the kids the truth that she needs a break on her own and put her foot down, no joining.

No, it wouldn't be awful. If she knows that if she told the teens the truth they'd want to go with her then I'd believe her. Sometimes a woman has to do what a woman has to do.
