Do I really need glasses?

I've been to the optician today for a check up as use screens at work a lot and do suffer with occasional headaches. He said I was mildly long sighted with a prescription of SPH +0.50 in both eyes. I didnt buy any glasses yet but do I need to? Will they help? Or are they just trying to make a sale. It seems quite a low prescription?

Did the optician advise you to wear glasses? If they are purely for your work, your work should cover the cost (of basic glasses).

The optician said not to wear them often and only occasionally otherwise would makr eyes dependent on them. So not sure why they are needed at all.

Get an inexpensive pair and try them for work, see if they make a difference. I had my first pair age 40 after having headaches. Made a big improvement.

You have only posted part of the perscription anyway .. what iscthe cyl ?

Likely it will just sharpen things up and reduce eye strain.

MandaLynn · 16/12/2022 17:42

I have a similar prescription, and the opticians have always advised against filling it as it's such a low prescription.

I think you can buy some off the shelf for a few pounds so I would do that
